I first bought a Palikoa to try out after using a Critr3 for a while. Then my wife and daughters (8,10 and 12) tried it. They really liked the different starting modes and how easy they could change the amount of friction. So then I bought 4 more! They all used it on their very first canyon with me. After using it on the first rappel in a actual waterfall they felt so confident, they weren't afraid of not being able to slow down. Even my 8 year old had no hesitation on a slippery 70' waterfall!!
After starting with a basic figure 8 and slowly moving up 3 other descenders I tried this and will never look back! Great all around device for rappelling .
